Dead Girls, Flashbacks, and One Very Hot Summer
A behind-the-scenes peek at Spring Break 2, writing updates, and your chance to weigh in.
July felt awesome for writing—but even better for editing—and that’s exactly where you’ll find me.
I decided to keep the party going from Spring Break: Cancun Desires by diving into the next book in the trilogy. If you’ve been with these stories since the beginning, you might remember it as Spring Break 2: Dead Girls Don’t Bite. Now that it’s getting the Raunchmanse treatment, I’m not 100% sure I’ll keep that title. Got a better idea? I’m all ears.
In this book, we find Leigh and Guero torn apart by the fallout from their actions in Cancun Desires. At its core, this series explores how we underestimate people—how Guero never imagines spring break coeds could cause mayhem at his resort, and how Leigh thinks she’s rid of her frenemy Gia… only to watch Gia rise in power.
Rewriting this one has been a ride. There’s a revenge subplot now, and I must’ve been deep in a Kill Bill binge while drafting—because WOW the violence. I’ve toned it down (a little) and added more steam, because… obviously.
Psychically, it’s been similar to writing the first book. Guero comes through loud and clear—he’s got a lot to say. Leigh’s a little quieter this time, which makes sense: she’s matured. She’s no longer the hot girl running wild through Cancun. Now, she’s trying to figure out what it means to be in a relationship that started under, let’s say, extra circumstances.
I’m hoping to finish the book by the end of summer, retrogrades permitting (editing energy is strong right now). In this installment, Guero gets kidnapped, so he and Leigh are apart for a stretch. I’m working hard to sprinkle in “sessions” throughout so you’re not waiting too long, but trust—there will be a steamy payoff when they reunite. Maybe a flashback or two? I’m still playing with that. Open to your ideas!
I’ve also been hit with a new idea (as always)—this one’s a historical romance, which would be a first for me. But Leigh and Guero are also tugging at my brain, wanting their third book, set in good old Arizona. So… which one should come next? Tell me.
I’ll pop in here to update you on the writing journey now and then. And if you’re jonesing for more, don’t forget: new episodes of The Miami Rules and Spring Break: Cancun Desires drop every week on Ream. Full access members get instant reads plus exclusive bonus content.
Thanks for being here—this wild ride wouldn’t be the same without you.
